Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I hope you are doing good by the Grace of God.

The message for this month is that Jesus takes delight in children who use the talents and gifts that He has given them and blesses them with more. Let me help you understand this with a short story.

In a small town, there lived a man named Jack with his wife and kids, Jimmy and Johnny. The father loved them with all of his heart. He often used to buy them a lot of little gifts and they liked them. One day, on his return from a fair, the father called his sons and presented them with a box of vibrantly colourful crayons, each. He told them to be creative and use these crayons to draw whatever they wanted to. The kids loved their gifts and took them to their rooms.

After a few days, the father came home with a pack of water colours for Johnny but had nothing for Jimmy. Jimmy asked his father angrily why he had not brought anything for him. His father took him to his room and said, ‘Jimmy, I want you to look around your room’. Jimmy was confused but did just as his father said. Following this, the father took him to Johnny’s room. He said, ‘Now, I want you to look around your brother’s room’. Jimmy looked around and saw the room decorated with a lot of beautiful pictures and posters that Johnny had stuck on his walls. The father then said to Jimmy, ‘You know that I gifted the box of crayons to you and your brother on the same day. I expected the both of you to use these crayons to draw whatever you liked. But when I came to your rooms after a few days, I noticed that you had not opened the box. On the contrary, Johnny had used up almost all of his crayons. I wanted to give him something better than the previous gift and so I got him the water colours. If you had used the crayons I’ve given you, I would have surely got you the water colours as well’. Saying this the father left the room. Jimmy then realised his mistake and promised his father to make use of all his gifts.

The Bible says, in Proverbs 13:4, ‘The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich’. In the above short story, we see that the father gave another gift to the child who used the gift which he had already given and not to the child who wasted it. Similarly, our Heavenly Father loves and blesses children who use the talents and gifts given to them by Him and not children who waste them.

Proverbs 10:4- He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.

So, dear kids, let us not be lazy and waste the gifts and talents that God has given us but use them for His Glory and inherit the blessings that He has in store for us.
